Aulani ~ Day 5.2

It was so nice having a relaxing day at the resort. Getting to see my friend Rachel was awesome. One of the things we HAD to do while in Hawaii was the Luau at Aulani. I had read there were 'cheaper ones' to go to, 'better ones' to go to. But we were paying for convenience. The luau comes with your dinner and drinks and of course the entertainment. We knew if we desired to enjoy a few extra cocktails, we would only have to walk back up to our room afterwards. We had chosen to pay extra for the preferred seating. This entitled you to a slightly earlier admission and seating closer to the stage.

We arrived before our designated check in time after reading that the line can get quite long and you are typically seated according to how you arrive (sort of). We provide our name and are sent to get in the line that had already formed for 'preferred seating'. There were already people in line at the regular seating line but they aren't seated until at least 30 minutes after we are.

When they started to let people in, you are given a hostess who will show you to your seats. First though, you stop by to have photos taken with some of the performers, then you pick up your 'first drink' on the way to your seat. They tell you about the various activities that you are able to do after you are seated and explain that your seat is yours so you can get up and move about with out worry of someone taking your spot.

We were seated at the first two seats at this table, so we had an amazing view of the entire show. After we set our drinks down, we set out to check out the activities. First up was lei making. They had wrist ones already made, or you could make your own. Dale opted for an already made one, while I made my own. Then Dale got a 'washable' tattoo while I decided against adding that to my outfit for the evening. His actually looked pretty good. Next up was taro pounding. They explained how it was done and let you try your hand at this and had samples of it to try afterwards. This was actually served on the buffet at dinner.

Before it was time for dinner, there was a little entertainment and song to welcome us. You'll have to wait for the next update for the delicious food and some more amazing photos and videos of this experience.
