Aulani ~ Day 4.2

After our relaxing day at the pool, it was time to head to Laniwai, the Spa at Aulani. We had booked a Couples Signature Lomilomi 80 minute massage. This is a traditional Hawaiian massage that is passed down from generation to generation by healing kupuna (elders). One of the benefits of booking any spa treatment is access to the amazing outdoor hydrotherapy garden. You are told to arrive one hour before your treatment to enjoy this extra benefit.

We were greeted as soon as we entered and within a few minutes were given a little information about the spa, a brief tour and we both picked a stone which we then placed back into the this small pool of rocks. Each one has a special word on it. You closed your eyes and picked a rock, we picked harmony and happiness.

After our tour we were sent to our changing rooms where there was also a sauna, steam room and massage chairs. We put our belongings into a locker and went out to the hydrogarden. There are various pools of differing degrees depending on what temperature you like. There are relaxing loungers if you wish to just lay out and enjoy the calming music that is playing throughout the area.

There was a shower area where there were six or eight different types of showers that sprayed water at different angles and different temperatures.

There was an amazing hot tub and a cool plunge pool. The hot tub was very relaxing. The cold plunge, not so much, but it is supposed to be so good for you! Dale did it a couple of times. I got my feet in and that was enough!

When it was almost time for our treatment, they notify you so you can sit and relax and have a cold drink and snack if you'd like. Then they came and got us to bring us to our treatment room. We picked which scent we wanted and were then given the most amazing massage ever! It was so relaxing. Truly enjoyed every minute of this treatment and totally worth it. After we finished our massage, we were given time to shower off and enjoy the steam and sauna areas in our respective changing rooms. It was an amazing afternoon.
