After our relaxing couples massage, we had a dinner reservation at Makahiki. When I had originally made this reservation, it was for an earlier time, completely forgetting what I had read about how relaxed we might be after the spa and need to 'recover' before dinner. I am so glad I did this. I had also read online how hard it was to get a reservation for dinner (or breakfast even) and we had no issues getting those and I had no trouble changing this reservation just two days before hand.
After our relaxing spa time we met up and refreshed and made a pit stop to get our wristbands. I don't recall if I talked about those, but you have to have a wristband to use the pool, the chairs, access to the lazy river, the towels and the characters. If you are a DVC member you get sparkly wristbands, lol. And the thing is leaving them on your entire stay to accumulate. I'll have a photo at the end of our trip of my nine wristbands.
Dinner at Makahiki is a three course meal, with you picking your starter, your entree and your dessert. There were several good options and we had to narrow down which we wanted. I started with the Caesar salad while Dale opted for the Caprese Salad. I ordered the Salmon and Dale the filet. Dale is not a big steak person so I was kind of shocked when he ordered this but it was melt in your mouth delicious! My salmon was also very good.
While we were eating dinner, the table next to us was served their dessert. It was making it very difficult to decide which item to order as all three items looked amazing. We decided on the Warm Chocolate Toffee Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream and the Kona Coffee Cheesecake. Notice, I said 'we' so that I could try both of these, 'we' made those decisions, lol! Both were very rich and very delicious.
