Hawaii ~ Aulani, Disney Resort & Spa (day one)

I should preface this section with the fact that while we were at Target I got a text from Disney that our room was ready. I initially was concerned since we had an ocean view room and were on the sixth floor. The resort goes up to 12 or more floors (honestly not sure, lol). I was concerned we really wouldn't 'see' the ocean with the lower room.

We arrived at the resort about 4pm Hawaiian time, which is crazy cause we left NY at 930am (so it was technically 10pm to our bodies). I love pulling up to a Disney resort because you are met with such kind cast members who truly seem like they love what they are doing and just make you smile. Our car was unloaded by bell services (to whisk our luggage off to our room). We proceeded to the front desk to complete check in. These photos are just the lobby area, it's just gorgeous.

We were greeted with the warm Welcome Home and given our buttons for our honeymoon and for our first visit. I love that they are in Hawaiian! We got the easy directions to our room (we were six rooms down from the elevator) and being on the sixth floor proved very helpful in using the stairs instead of waiting on the elevator (and burning some calories!!!).

I love that the TV's both were welcoming us to Aulani. Our room hostess had left us our fun Mickey Mouse welcome along with beautiful swans and a small gift for our anniversary.

I couldn't wait to step out on the balcony and see if we liked the view since I was concerned about it. But one step on that balcony and we were in love! We could definitely see the ocean (yes we could have asked to go higher up but we just loved this location) looking to the side and see the relaxing lazy river that we spent lots of time enjoying below. Looking to the other side we could see the island, so honestly we had an amazing location room.

We had booked a one bedroom ocean view villa (which is what we most often do when we use our DVC points), but this trip was no without points (and all cash). We had a full kitchen, beautiful living room, bedroom with king size bed, full bath with a separate soaking tub and 'dressing area' as I called the other part of the bathroom, lol.

A few minutes after we got settled, bell services was at the door with our luggage and groceries. I quickly put everything away, ironed the few items that needed to be ironed so that would be done for the week and then it was time to go find some real dinner.

We had heard how hard it is to get a reservation to eat at some of the restaurants, but opted to just walk down to Off The Hook and see how long the wait was. It was just about 6pm Hawaiian time and we walked right up and were seated immediately, with a beautiful view of the ocean and the soon to be setting sun. Of course we had to start off with some tropical drinks and apps. Dinner was so good, I had a caesar salad with garlic shrimp (I always have chicken and thought, time for some shrimp, we are on an island with amazing access to fresh seafood). It was delicious. Dale got the flatbread with garlic shrimp. After dinner, the exhaustion was starting to set in so it was back to the room for the first of several soaks in the tub!
